Behind the Scenes

The museum is in an historic site which presents challenges when installing an exhibition. The team have worked together to find creative solutions to overcomes these issues. These photos document some of the installation process. If you would like to learn more about the challenges of curating in an historic building, please ask one of the conservation volunteers during your tour. We are recruiting for volunteers to join the team so please check out our ‘get involved’ page to find out more!

“The finished exhibit is the culmination of hours of work and effort by museum staff and volunteers. I have found the process of putting together this exhibit to be both rewarding and challenging. However, working to highlight marginalised voices within this space felt important and necessary and all that hard work was worth it. I’m grateful to have been able to collaborate with such a supportive team and I’m excited to continue to work on exhibits in the future as well as challenge narratives within the space.” - Max, Volunteer Assistant Curator
